The lakeside was radiant with fresh greenery. Since my visits here are usually in the morning, seeing Mt. Fuji in the western light felt strangely new—a quiet, different perspective on a familiar peak.

Just before noon, a sudden urge to travel took hold of me. By early afternoon, I had stepped off the train at Fuji-san Station in Yamanashi Pref. After a quick bowl of Yoshida Udon, I made my way to the shores of Lake Kawaguchiko.
