Taking advantage of a cheap flight home from Memanbetsu, I headed to Eastern Hokkaido with my bicycle on express train. After a slow morning at a small lodge in Abashiri, I finally set off toward Higashimokoto.
I had long wanted to visit the moss phlox fields here. Though the season was winding down, pockets of vibrant pink remained in full bloom, offering an unexpectedly beautiful sight.
A single blossom in the corner caught my eye, standing out amidst the vast floral carpet. Funnily enough, as soon as I left for the airport, the grey skies suddenly cleared—as if the sun had been waiting for me to finish my journey.
